Light of the World unfolds during a late afternoon in the Southern Utah monsoon season, near the enchanting Zion National Park. Originally focused on a different scene, my attention pivoted as a radiant shaft of light pierced through the darkening skies, illuminating an Aspen Grove in the distance. In a hurried scramble, I set up and composed the shot to capture the ephemeral beauty before it vanished. A stroke of luck, my dog Sophie stayed clear of the frame, having just moments before explored the foreground in pursuit of a rodent. Best suited for metal printing, this photograph immortalizes the ethereal play of light, nature, and an unexpected moment in the wilderness.
