Captured in Southern Utah, "Noble American Beasts" depicts the American bison bathed in the last warm rays of the sun. These majestic creatures offer a poignant glimpse into our native history, marked by a tragic and epic unfolding. At one point, an estimated 30-60 million bison roamed the great plains, integral to many Native American cultures. However, the construction of the trans-union railroad led to the slaughter of around 5.4 million by 1884, leaving only 325, including 24 in Yellowstone National Park. Presently, about 500,000 bison exist, primarily in domestic captivity. Yet, remnants of wild populations persist in Yellowstone and just outside the Grand Canyon's North Rim, preserving these creatures as genuine American treasures.
