Artist's Description
Super Bloom Zion National Park happened in the Spring of 2023 near Zion National Park and was a sight to behold. It's amazing how an unusual amount of rain can transform the Southern Utah deserts and result in such vibrant displays of nature.
The Desert Mallow, with its orange flowers, is a lovely plant. It's interesting to learn that they have a sweet scent reminiscent of vanilla or marshmallows, which makes sense considering their relation to mallows, from which we get marshmallows. The connection between their fragrance and the sweet aroma of marshmallows is quite delightful.
It's fascinating to know that native Americans have utilized the Desert Mallow for various purposes. From using it as a starchy food source to benefiting from its properties as a skin tonic, stomach healer, and even a shampoo, the plant holds great significance for them. It's always intriguing to learn about the traditional uses of plants by indigenous cultures.
