Description
Being a photographer and a Realtor in Southern Utah I'm drawn to our fleeting wilderness areas that are bound to be developed over the next few years. Much of our raw land is under the jurisdiction of the BLM, (and no, not Black Lives Matters but Bureau of Land Management) and remains protected until of course they decide that there needs to be a land swap for development. Many of the swaths are private and will inevitably be clustered with homes in the near future. Right now I'm just grateful to experience them and capture the native beauty that surrounds us in Southern Utah. If I were to go 1-2 miles in any direction from this parcel, urban sprawl prevails, yet here it stands in solitude without even a home in the picture.
Untouched Majesty was captured just as the sunrise painted the landscape with its warming light. I knew that I wanted and ultra-high resolution image with all focal areas in focus so I captured 15 vertical images, 5 in each focal range of 3, and then stitched them together for the final image. I used a Nikon Z7 with Nikkor 80-200s lens (at 200mm) at f 22. I certainly could have captured the same scene with a wider lens but at the loss of the telephoto lens' ability to "compress" the background with the foreground as only a telephoto lens can do.
If you're interested in acquiring a mural-sized wall covering of this piece, feel free to inquire via email. It's a part of my Limited Edition series, with only 100 prints available. Please note that the price increases as it sells. Just like all my editions, you can obtain certificates of authenticity by providing proof of purchase and your mailing address. Please send the necessary information to ddiegelman@gmail.com.
